Plantation shutters fitted by window specialists.
A shutter is only as good as the window behind it. As the team behind Bristol Windows and Doors, we have spent our working lives on windows, so before anything is made we look closely at yours: how it opens, where the handles sit, and whether the frame is square. Then we make the shutter to suit it.
The same people throughout
From the first visit to the day they're fitted, you deal with us and no one else. We measure, order and fit every shutter ourselves.
The window, looked after too
If the window needs attention, we can put it right at the same time, with 10% off the repair.
Here afterwards
If a shutter we fitted ever needs adjusting, we come back and see to it.

Shutters, explained
Why choose plantation shutters?
Privacy without losing the light. Tilt the louvres and you can see out while people walking past can't see in. With tier-on-tier shutters you can close the bottom half and leave the top open.
Control over light. Open the panels for full daylight, tilt the louvres to soften it, or close them to darken the room.
No cords, easy care. There are no cords or chains, and a wipe with a damp cloth keeps them clean.
They suit the house. Shutters look at home in a Victorian bay, a Georgian sash or a new-build living room, and they're made to fit each window exactly.
Why composite shutters?
We specialise in composite shutters, with an aluminium core through the louvres and uprights for strength. They never need sanding or varnishing, they wipe clean with a damp cloth, and the painted finish is smooth and even. If a part is ever damaged, that single part can be replaced.

Shutters for Bristol homes
A lot of Bristol is Victorian and Edwardian terraces, often with a bay window straight onto the street. Here, shutters come into their own: privacy at street level, with the light kept, and a finish that suits the age of the house.
Some still have their original timber sashes, many now have uPVC or aluminium windows, and that's where our window experience counts. A shutter has to clear the handles, sit square in a frame that isn't always square, and let the windows open properly. We see Bristol windows every day, so we know what to look for.
We also fit shutters in newer homes and flats. More about shutters in Bristol →
Shutters in Bath
Bath's period homes have tall sash windows and deep reveals. We'll look at how your windows open and how the shutter will sit in the reveal before anything is made. More about shutters in Bath →
